Game Design Word of the Day: "Game Feel", "Kinesthetics", or "Proxied-Embodiment"

Posted by trixelbit - June 30th, 2015

So I want to start doing a Game Design Word of the day type thing. I think it"s good stuff for aspiring developers, designers, or just ordinary people to know. Tell me what you guys think. Want me to continue on with it? Is this stuff interesting? Tell me bellow.

This defintion is pulled from the book I'm reading, "Game Feel" by Steven Swink. Interesting stuff. Here's is a link if you want to read it youself ( https://gamifique.files.wordpress.com/2011/11/2-game-feel.pdf )

Game Feel / Kinesthetics / Proxied-Embodiment :[ In the term "Game Feel" ], “ feel ”is meant in a very specific sense relevant to the experience of playing video games. Feel is not meant in the thematic sense (a Western feel, a Baroque feel) or in the expressive, emotional or physical sense (I feel sad, I feel pain, this place feels creepy). Specifically, game feel is the tactile, kinesthetic sense of manipulating a virtual object. It’s the sensation of control in a game.

I think you have a passion to create games, and above all feel. I understand, I imagine that to do what you, dedication and much effort. Keep doing what you do, it's good to know there are people like you who do these things, which is dedicated to it. Never stop doing what you're doing. For me it is complex, and yes I am learning programming. I hope we can talk in the future, and read what you wrote with time, yes also I see that you enjoy writing it. Me too. I hope my English is good, and you understand what I mean by all this.
