Animal Crossing x Crimson Crown (not official, pls don't sue) Design Competition!!


Prompt:

Our character, Lily, is homeless!

In an Animal Crossing of your choosing, design an environment for her to live in!


Bellow is a character sheet with her info attached!


Design a space where she can do her work comfortably, and shows her personality.

CRACKS KNUCKS ALRIGHT EVERYONE, time for a long winded update post on


CRIMSON CROWN DEVELOPMENT


This 2 weeks big focus:

  • Final implementation of Chip Mechanics
  • UI Direction
  • SHADERS


Chip Mechanic

So a big change is that we switch from using Items, Weapons, and "Traits" to instead using Ability Chips and Defense Chips.

This change was made because:

  • A. It fits the context of the game since B0 is a robot. Chips make sense in that context.
  • B. Way simpler to understand, requires minimal explanation.
  • C. Choosing chips is a more meaningful decisions.

UI and Shaders


So UI has been the neglected ugly step child of this games' development. Instead of feeding her, I was out partying with my cools friends, game systems implementation, environmental assets, FINAL STORY DRAFT.


But I am a deadbeat no longer! Now that the story is finalized, I have information needed to better inform the UI, and the appropriate inspiration to draw on. That is why, the new UI is presented as a CRT tv, complete with scan lines and pixel UI elements.


This required writing a shader to process the final game image after it is renderered. These aren't just lines, they are each individual pixels with rgb cells properly lit to match the game pixel value. This new element not only makes the game look like a tv screen, it also allows for things like colors be displayed if the player takes damages or activates and ability( look at how the screen turns blue with the [Time Stop] ability. It also has a GLITCH value which becomes visible when the player takes damage!

IN CONCLUSION

A lot of good progress, the game feels like it's growing into its identity every commit that's pushed!

Here's some gameplay showing where things are at currently. Will be posting updates here somewhat regularly.

Fight and Flight is finally out on Newgrounds and I gotta say I'm kinda blown away by how positively yall recieved this game!

Hey Gamers,

You're favorite absent father is back from the drug store.


Just wanted to let yall know what I've been up to recently.


Audio Contests!

I'm competing in both the NGADM and the NGUAC.

I'm really happy to have made into both and aim to improve my music production skills as much as I can.


The submission I made for Round 1 of NGADM really popped off.

I was super surprised by how well it was received!


Thank you all listening! I can't wait to show you the other songs I have cooking in the kitchen rn.


Hamster Havoc

So yah, finally got back to working on Hamster Havoc.

Most, if not all, of the songs I'm making for the audio competitions are going to be tracks for the OST of Hamster Havoc.


I'll be posting more updates here and on our blog about the development of the game.

So first of all, Its been a hot minute since my art has been front paged. 
For all who have followed or simply enjoyed my art, I appreciate yall imensisly! 

That being said, You may be wondering, "Who is trixelbit? What is this shmuck up to?"

Well my hypothetical friend, I have been quite busy. 


*PIXEL ART*

So, this summer. I'm dedicating a huge chunk of time to increase my pixel skills and understanding of art.

My goal is to

  1. Make a part time wage through commissions. 
  2. Improve my understanding of art and explore areas of art I'm weak at. 
  3. To establish my self as a top level pixel artist (atleast in florida)

     

*GAME DEVELOPMENT*

Aside from art, I want to push out some games as well during summer.

Every Month, I'm doing a game jam with my discord group.
I want to push my self to publish a game atleast once a month. 

Aside from the the jams, I am working on a bigger scale game with my friend Perris called Project: Prometheus.
My goal with this project is to get it to a point where we can pitch it to game investors. 



*TWITCH*

So I became affiliate this month which really was a moral boost for me.

I'm really determined to grow my audience and hopefully help them out with thier persuites
(whether it be art, animation, or game develpoment).

Or atleast entertain them lol.

I'm doing a monthly give aways of Aseprite + Sketch commissions. 
( not to mention sub/follower goals events )

I'm determined to make the most of this summer. 
I want to persue my dreams as hard as I can before I need to focus on schooling and academics.

Suh My Duhds!

So as you may or may not have noticed. I've changed my art and logo! 

I'm going by a new brand/icon/style/ A E S T H E T I C, whatever yall wanna call it. Its kinda of a new chapter in my life as a creator. I guess in my life in general. Either way, expect some works from me. Working on some new tunes, some new games, and some Fresh-As-Mama's-Cookin Art.
