I get that it's a game jam, but the core mechanics arent that interesting or even particularly fun. Also, the visuals/presentation is hella boring. The design of it isn't really evocative of that theme "small planet". Even with crude graphics and bad audio, the fundamental design of a game's mechanics can really carry a game. Usually when I do gamejams, I know that all aspects of my game is gonna be constrained, so it acts as a good exercise in design. "How can you make the most out of what you have?". Jams are always a good way of developing that. Hope this helps!

The idea is cute but you dont develop the concept into something that's 3d dimensional. Interesting idea but not fully realized and implemented. Also the mechanics doesn't really serve the idea too well either. Nothin special about the 2d platform mechanic that ties into the idea you're trying to convey. The best harmony within a game is between narrative, mechanics, and its execution. Keep creating tho fam. Fine tuning takes lots of grinding.

Really interesting concept! Makes for a fun relaxing puzzle. Really like the approach to the mechanics. Also enjoy the really chill sound and music. Wish there was a bit more kinesthetics to how objects move and react to their space. Side note: maybe more interesting art can make the came pop more and provided intrigue. Maybe like theming the visuals or something. Provided some context for the game. Mechanically tho, very interesting.

Not a new concept. The sounds could have a higher bitrate (they sound very compressed). You executed the concept fairly well but didn't add anything new to it. Not bad but not memorable either. Keep creating fam.

Im a part of PETA. I Donnot approve. AnimalAbuse/10. Fucc dis mysogenistical anti startbuck BS. Jk pretty funny. 4 a gamejam game, its aight. Actually rated it 3 sturs.

Man you stressed me so hard :0 :0
I dont talk about this game too much for not being PETA-ized.

Shhhh :D

Glad you had fun ;)

Funny, entertaining, and well-written. What more can I ask for?

Short but conveys religious cynicism cogently. Good for what it is but would love to see these idea expanded upon, maybe adding deeper layers of this criticism or even different perspectives. Interesting play!

The idea and mechanic are interesting ( though irritating for the traditional platformer aficionado as my self ). The hitbox of the character can be really irritating, seeing as it is slightly bigger than a person would expect from the character. Very interesting idea and relatively well executed though.

This game reminds of a game I made a long time ago when i 1st started getting into game design ( I think I was like 11 or 12). The game was similar to this except with some odd mechanics and a boss battle here and there. This game feels like your 1st ( or at least 1st published game ). The acceleration of the character is way to fast, making the player rely on twitch button presses that still have the character move incredibly fast. You miked the mechanic spikes but the level design wasn't exactly on par, with obstacles that were easily avoidable all together or obstacles that are difficult because they are reliant on character movement that isn't incredibly responsive. Keep creating!

Thank you very much for the great insight! This is truly my first published web game (even though I have made other games). Next time I will do my best! :)
Also, the game was made from zero, no engines used.

I definitely feel the Half life vibe and I can definitely recognize the aspects of it, but there is some weird design choices in the game, both mechanics and art design, that subtract from the enjoyment of the game. In game objects aren't always easily distinguishable. Even if you are following the principle of only 3 colors for each game object, like the NES, you can still add ambiance as well as more conformation if the environment ( i.e. adding different colors and patterns between floors, walls, and objects). The absence of music or ambient sounds is a bit disappointing. I think you can create something truly great. Keep an open eye to design and small aspects of games. Studying some game design concepts is always helpful. Even I look over stuff I think I know. Anyways, keep creating! Would love to see how you improve!

UnrealCanine responds:

I've just added a few extra tiles to some of the maps. By the time I get Day3 up and running, I should have ambient sounds in the background, even if it's just the hum of a generator or something

I make games, music, and pixel art!
